Studio Policy & Class Guidelines

(Effective from 1st April 2026)

 

Introduction

 

At Philips School of Music, we are committed to providing structured, high-quality 1-on-1 music education. To ensure consistency in learning, effective scheduling, and fair utilization of dedicated class slots, the following policies are implemented.

 

1. Course Duration Policy

​

• Each term consists of 24 classes, which must be completed within a maximum period of 92 days from the date of commencement.

• No extensions will be provided beyond this period under normal circumstances.

• Exception: In the event of a continuous break exceeding 30 days (for valid reasons), the break period may be considered and the course duration extended accordingly. However, during such extended breaks, the allotted time slots will be released to other students. Upon the student’s return, the original time slots will be reassigned subject to availability. If those slots are no longer available, the student may choose from the currently available slots or opt for a different teacher offering the most suitable timings.

 

2. Compensation (Make-up Class) Policy

​

• A maximum of 3 classes only can be compensated per term.

• Any additional missed classes will be automatically forfeited.

• All make-up classes must be completed strictly within the 92-day term duration.

• Make-up classes do not qualify for term extension under any circumstances.

 

3. Slot Reservation Policy

​

• Each student is allotted a fixed weekly slot with a dedicated teacher.

• This slot is exclusively reserved and cannot be reassigned to another student.

• Non-attendance does not constitute cancellation of the reserved slot.

• Fees are charged for slot reservation and instructional commitment, not only for attendance.

 

4. Attendance & Learning Commitment

• Regular attendance is essential for consistent progress and skill development.

• Frequent cancellations disrupt learning continuity and impact overall performance.

• Students are expected to maintain discipline in attending scheduled classes.

 

5. Term Validity & Lapsed Classes

​

• Any classes not utilized within the 92-day period will be treated as lapsed.

• Lapsed classes are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be adjusted in future terms.

 

6. Policy Enforcement

​

• These policies are designed to ensure fairness, discipline, and optimal utilization of teaching resources.

• This policy will be strictly enforced from your next renewal.

 

7. Refund policy

​

All payments made towards enrolment, tuition, Admission, registration and related services are non-refundable and non-transferable. no refunds shall be applicable for cancellations, absences, or discontinuation.

8. Teacher Leave & Substitute Class Policy

​

Just as students may occasionally require flexibility for rescheduling, teachers may also require leave. However, the school ensures that this does not impact the student’s progress. A qualified substitute teacher will be assigned to conduct the scheduled class. This ensures that students do not miss their learning time. NO class cancellations.

The Studio Policy is dynamic in nature and subject to periodic review. As the school continues to evolve in its pursuit of excellence in music education, policies may be revised from time to time. The school reserves the absolute right to amend, update, or modify these policies at its sole discretion.
